"My love affair with art - ever present during my childhood - flourished during my time at Falmouth School of Art where I completed a BA in Fine Art. Afterwards I set up a studio in Newcastle upon Tyne where I worked for the next few years. In 1989 I was diagnosed as having diabetic retinopathy. I moved to Wales to join my partner and together we set up a new studio. Around this time my sight deteriorated very quickly and within a few years I had to stop exhibiting work and instead try to find new ways of painting. We moved to Ayrshire in 1998 and although I was by this time registered blind, with very limited vision, I've continued to discover alternative means of working. This has involved experimenting with painting and printing techniques as well as looking at sculpture through a variety of mediums.    Although still based on places known to me, the images I produce are becoming more distorted and broken. My drawings, built from numerous coloured lines woven together, are more like organised scribbles. The paintings have become thicker; the paint at times almost bludgeoned into place, the surface scraped and re-built forming overlapping layers of colour and glimpsed highlights of line and form. My commitment to art is total. A gradual decline in my sight over the years has only added to my determination to continue to produce paintings of outstanding beauty and appeal. I hope that you, can connect with these paintings and have as much fun viewing them as I had painting them. Winning the Jolomo Landscape prize in June 2009 is my career high to date"           Keith  Keith in the studio Click on framed thumbnail Image to enlarge and show full details A profile of Keith Salmon - Artwork available through the Gallery 'Overlooking Loch Ericht, February', Acrylic & Pastel, 100x60cm - £950 'In Glen Rosa, Isle of Arran', Acrylic & Pastel, 30x30cm - £400 'From Ghlas Beinn, Rannoch Moor', Acrylic & Pastel, 76x23cm - £575 'Above Glen Shee, Winter morning', Acrylic & Pastel, 76x23cm - £575 'Assynt coast line', Pen, 28 x 21cm - £135 'On Rannoch Moor', Pen, 28 x 21cm - £135 'East from Ben Lui, April', Acrylic & Pastel, 30x30cm - £400 'Towards Glen Etive, Winter', Acrylic & Pastel, 76x23cm - £575 'Below Goat Faell, Isle of Arran', Acrylic & Pastel, 30x30cm - £400 'The Ben Lawers group', Acrylic & Pastel, 76x23cm - £575 'From above Cononish', Acrylic & Pastel, 40x40cm - £495 ' In Glen Rosa, Isle of Arran', Pen, 29x20cm - £135
